What changes between products?

List every NPS, pressure class, end connection and body material that must run on the same purchase. A wafer dual-plate unit is not interchangeable with a bolted-cover swing check even when both are called check valves. Format range decides how many face-to-face lengths and flange facings belong in the first order.

What must be cleaned or replaced?

Ask which seat rings, hinge pins, cover gaskets and bolting are treated as changeover or spare parts. Hydrotest water, oil films and particle residue left in the body affect first-cycle seating after a size or trim swap. Cleaning scope is a quoted extra unless the offer names it.

How is the first good output verified?

Define who witnesses seat-leakage and shell pressure tests, and whether the first in-line restart after installation is a timed SAT step or an informal operations check. Flow rate used for the demonstration must be restated with fluid and temperature, not copied from a brochure.

Ask every swing check valve bidder to split the base valve from items that change installed project cost. Companion flanges, studs, gaskets, NDE, painting and site installation are frequent extras. Disc mass, hinge friction and seat angle change with NPS and pressure class. A DN50 unit that seats quietly on a short header may slam on a long liquid column after pump trip. Write the expected reverse-flow time, not only steady flow rate.

What must be cleaned or replaced?

Seat leakage after a dirty hydrotest is often a residue issue, not a design failure. State whether the factory must ship dry, oil-free, or with a preservation film that operations must remove before first process fluid.

How is the first good output verified?

Ask for the leakage class and pressure-test standard that will appear on the certificate for the delivered item. A generic ISO or API statement on a website is not a record for that serial number.

Which responsibilities remain with the equipment supplier and buyer?

The buyer supplies fluid, working pressure, temperature, reverse-flow description, quantity and destination. The manufacturer confirms orientation, drawings and test records for that duty.
